Ingredients

whole milk
- 1/2
cup sugar
- 1/4
cup cornstarch
- 1/4
teaspoon salt
- 4
large egg yolks
- 2
tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2
teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Instructions
1. In a
saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk.
2. Cook
over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and boils.
3. In a
separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually whisk in half of the hot milk
mixture.
4. Pour
the egg mixture back into the saucepan and cook, stirring constantly, until it
thickens.
5.
Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
6. Pour
into serving dishes and chill in the refrigerator until set.
